Fri November 5: Barflies/Baarikärpäset at Elephant & Castle (111 West Adams Street,
Chicago) starting at 6:00 pm.

October

Fri October 1: Barflies/Baarikärpäset at überstein in Bucktown (1745 West North Ave,
Chicago) starting at 6:00 pm.

September

Fri September 17: 12th Annual FACC Autumn Golf Classic at Cog Hill Golf and
Country Club, Lemont, IL. Open to everyone who has an interest in FACC and golf, the
event will be played as a scramble. See more details here.

Thu September 9: FACC Board & General Planning Meeting, location TBD. Open to all
who are interested in FACC.

August

Sat August 21: Third annual Finnish School Summer Olympics in DuPage River Park,
Naperville, IL. Fun is provided for children and adults alike in the form of a cell phone
target toss, boot tossing, sack hopping, egg carrying, Finnish darts and a hula hoop relay.
There will be a raffle for the adults, fishing game for the kids and food off the grill for
everyone. $10 per family or $5 per individual. Event starts at 1 pm, DuPage River Park
East, 808 Royce Road, Naperville, IL 60565. If planning to attend, please send RSVP to

Fri August 6: Barflies/Baarikärpäset on the outside patio of Topo Gigio (1516 North
Wells Street, Chicago) starting at 6:00 pm. Chicagoland Finnish-American organizations
jointly invite all friends of Finland to fun and casual bar nights every first Friday of the
month.

Wed July 28 - Sun August 1: Finn Grand Fest 2010 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario,

Tue July 13: Cooking with Finlandia Vodka and Chef Sara La Fountain dinner event at
the Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park Hotel, 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm. Attendees will be
treated to two appetizers, an entrée and dessert prepared from locally sourced ingredients
and touches of Finlandia Vodka. Each course will also be paired with a cocktail as
prepared by Finlandia global brand champion Pekka Pellinen. See more details and RSVP

Wed June 16: Elina Vähälä plays Vivaldi's Four Seasons at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in
Millennium Park, 6:30 pm. More information available here.

Tue June 15: Reception for Consul General Ritva Jolkkonen and FACC Board Meeting at
the Mid-America Club, 6 pm. 200 E Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60601. Everyone is
welcome, RSVP required.

May

Mid-May: Annual mailing. FACC membership letters mailed out 18 May 2010.

Fri May 7: Barflies/Baarikärpäset at Kitty O'Shea's (Hilton Hotel & Towers, 720 S.
Michigan Ave) starting at 5:30 pm. Chicagoland Finnish-American organizations jointly
invite all area Finns (and Finns at heart!) to fun and casual bar nights every first Friday of
the month. No agendas, presentations, hand-outs or speeches, just informal conversation
in English or Finnish and a pleasant way to start the weekend.

Sat May 1: Annual FASM Vappu Party at Estonian House, Riverwoods, IL. Event starts
at 6 pm, with cash bar, hors d'oeuvres, sima, dinner, entertainment and dancing. More

Wed April 28: Finland's Ambassador to the U.S., Pekka Lintu, will deliver a speech on
Green Public Diplomacy: Sustainability as Finland’s Message in the US. 3:30 pm in
Lincoln Hall at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Free admission, no RSVP required.

Fri April 16: Kaija Saariaho concert with Northwestern's Contemporary Music Ensemble
and Ryan Nelson as conductor. 7:30 pm at Northwestern University's Pick-Staiger

Thu April 15: Music of Kaija Saariaho presented in an all-cello concert featuring cellist
